iGPSPORT VS1800 Front light with high beam/low beam mode
iGPSPORT, a company that develops cost-effective cycling gadgets, has announced the third smart light, the VS1800. This front light boasts a maximum brightness of 1800 lumens and the expandability of being able to link with cycle computers and smartphones.
iGPSPORT was launched in 2012 by a young IT engineer who loves sports. The brand has steadily increased its user base thanks to its GPS cycle computers, which offer an excellent balance of affordable price and performance.
In recent years, iGPSPORT, which has added smart devices to its cycle computers, released front lights in rapid succession in 2024, the VS1200 in February and the VS800 in April. Now they have announced the VS1800 front light, expanding their front light lineup to three types.
The VS1800 has a cylindrical body shape that is different from the previous two models, and is characterized by emitting a maximum brightness of 1800 lumens from three LEDs. This brightness is brighter than the existing two models, and is the largest amount of light in the iGPSPORT front lineup. In addition, since an anti-glare lens is used, there is little worry of dazzling oncoming vehicles.
The VS1800 has two new features. One is the ability to switch between high and low beams. When there are few street lights, you can use the high beam to see far away, and when there are oncoming vehicles, you can use the low beam to be considerate of your surroundings, which increases safety. It's a nice update to be able to do this with a button as a light function, rather than adjusting the light angle.
The other is SOS mode, which can be activated by clicking the button on the device three times. The light will flash in an SOS pattern, so if an emergency occurs, the light will alert those around you.
The battery capacity is 6700mAh, and it has a runtime of up to 1.5 hours with high beams on, up to 12 hours with low beams on, and up to 70 hours with low-intensity flashing. You can also check the available light duration by connecting it to a compatible cycle computer. It also has a function that allows you to power other devices while the light is on, so it can be used as a mobile battery.
By connecting the VS1800 to a cycle computer, you can use the automatic on/off function that utilizes the built-in acceleration sensor and ambient light sensor. The light turns on and off automatically when the bike starts moving or when you enter a tunnel, without you having to operate the light, which is an advantage in terms of safety. By connecting to a computer, you can customize the automatic functions and modes to your liking.
The camera is attached to the bike using a dedicated bike mount and a GoPro mount. It can be attached either above or below the handlebars, so you can make effective use of the space around the handlebars. The price is 14,960 yen (tax included).
